Women Series

TI have traveled through life, I have found continuing inspiration from the lives and work of women in many areas of life. I did not really mean to create a growing series of over 40 collages of women who affected me. I did the first one for myself, and the series seemed to be a natural step to take.

portraits

TMy friend Paul called me one day with an 'inspriation'. He asked if I could do a portrait of his dad that would be a present for his mom on what would have been his dad's ninetieth birthday. Then he said he was going to have 5 'limited edition' Giclees made from the portrait, and sent to me to sign. Mom would get the original, and each of the 5 sons would get one of the Giclees. The photo showed his dad with one of his favorite treats, a great big fountain poured Coke. I, of course, loved the idea.

STILL LIFES AND LANDSCAPES

Surrounded by the beauty of Northern Italy, and having an extended family of kinds of animals, it was natural for me to use these manifestations of the beauty of nature as sources for my emerging works.

CARDS

Sandy is just introducing an exciting new collection of cards created from the images of her collages. As more people asked whether she had any cards that were made from her gallery of imagery, and as the collection of images expanded, Sandy realized that this would be a natural way to expand the reach of her images. Stay tuned.

About SANDY...

Sandy Oppeneheimer first started creating her collages while living in Italy in the village of Pietrasanta. She had moved there with her husband, sculptor John Fisher, and became part of a thriving international enclave of artists living in the heart of the mountains of carrera marble. John had been working with marble for many years already, while Sandy had been a potter. Being thousands of miles from her studio, she explored other forms of artistic expression. Painting became her medium, but, little by little, she found her way to collage. Her first works were an affirmation(more)..
